Koto, DJ, piano and vocals, led by interdisciplinary artist Sanford Biggers, provide an improvised aural landscape for Biggers' often troubling as well as inspiring video work. Images of punk, film noir, minstrels, traditional Samoan dance, and Buddhism collide in this evocative concert/experimental film screening.
With Sanford Biggers, Mark Himes, Sumie Kaneko, DJ Jahi Sundance, and Imani Uzuri.
Sanford Biggers’ hanging glass sculpture, “Lotus,” which is etched with diagrams of slave ships, is featured in the museum’s exhibition Grain of Emptiness, currently on view.
