RMA Teen Guide Program
Participants in the RMA Teen Guide program expand on and share their deep and broad knowledge of Himalayan art by joining education staff as trained and paid teen guides. Students further their content knowledge with additional trainings on the art, cultures, and history of the region; develop public speaking skills; and gain an understanding of how and why museums functions.
Teen Guides:
- Give gallery tours and learn about the skills and process of giving a tour.
- Receive training from top curators on content.
- Work with family programs to design, facilitate and teach special gallery activities such as puppet shows, storytelling sessions, and art activities that connect children with Himalayan Art
- Receive college and career guidance from top-level museum staff and arts professionals
- Participate in art-making sessions that focus on a theme or techniques found in our extensive collection of Himalayan art
- Exchange tours with NYC high school guides at other museums
Teens who have participated in the program have gone on to careers at the Rubin Museum of Art and other arts institutions. For more information, contact Pauline Noyes at (212) 620-5000 x337.
