The Buddha of Longevity
Drawing White Tara Thangka-Making Workshop

Friday October 19, 2012 @ 7:00 PM
Price: $175.00
Member Price: $150.00

In this weekend course, participants will learn how to draw the White Tara according to the traditional Tibetan thangka-making process. In Buddhist philosophy, making an image of White Tara or practicing her meditation can prolong your life (or the person to whom you dedicate it) and help you overcome life-threatening obstacles such as illness. Another beautiful ritual is to offer a Whita Tara image to a newly born baby in hopes of a long life ahead. Thankga painter Carmen Mensink will guide students through a combination of gallery observations; the historical, cultural, and religious context of Tibetan thangka painting; and studio art making with traditional grid measurements.

No drawing experience necessary. All materials included. Advance registration required.

Course Fee: $175, $150 members
