Volunteer

The Rubin Museum offers volunteers the opportunity to gain exposure to the workings of an art museum and to contribute services to various departments within the museum.

Volunteer Requirements

Candidates must be willing to work a minimum of 4 hours per week and make a long-term commitment to serve as an RMA volunteer.

Qualified candidates should have an interest in Himalayan art or museums, a flexible attitude toward working with others, and an understanding that reliability is important.

Based on their interest and experience, volunteers may be assigned to work in a specific department and will report to a supervisor in that department.

RMA Ambassadors travel throughout the five boroughs to distribute museum literature to community groups and institutions and make personal contact with potential museum audiences. Other tasks include assembling mailings of museum literature and internet research. Candidates must have an ability and desire to travel throughout the city and must be able to represent the museum with a highly professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner.
