Saits & Tzadiks: Songs from the Yiddish and Irish Traditions

Once heard, you would never take Susan McKeown for anyone else. The strong, richly-colored contralto and the enlivening intelligence of her songs mark her as a distinctive talent. Last year's Grammy-winning album Wonder Wheel from The Klezmatics features Susan on lead and harmony vocals throughout.

"A singer of passion, grace and striking presence with the ability to capture both the essence of a traditional folk song or the more hard-edged domain of contemporary adult rock; she seems to personify both past and present." (Irish Examiner)

Susan last appeared at RMA on March 14th last year. This year she teams up with The Klezmatics' accordionist and lead singer Lorin Sklamberg.  Lorin is an ardent preserver of klezmer and is co-Director of Living Traditions, Inc., which releases archival CDs of music including rescued recordings of Yiddish radio programs from the 1920s-1950s.
