"I'm interested in inviting the possibility for ecstatic experience, for getting outside of stasis. My roots are from Ireland, and I suppose a subtext to my work must relate to these Celtic shamanistic traditions."
Philip Taaffe is a New York based American painter, first known for reinterpreting iconic imagery of twentieth century abstraction. Fascinated by interrelated patterns of nature and culture, Taaffe's paintings exhibit an otherworldliness conveyed through movement. His work features in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Diane Fremont is a Jungian Analyst in private practice in New York City, and a faculty member of the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association. She writes and lectures on dreams, alchemy, imagination, art and the creative process. She recently authored, The Visible and the Invisible in Art: the Secret Space of the Image.
