Pedro Almodóvar, Spain, 2004 (106 min)

As children at the start of the 1960s, Ignacio and Enrique discover love, cinema, and fear at a Catholic school.  As the story jumps to the 80's these former lovers are seemingly reunited as Ignacio brings Enrique, who is now a screenwriter, a story about the physical and sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of Father Manolo.  With deft skill Almodóvar handles a narrative dealing with the effects of repressed trauma.

Introduced by Michael Marsman
