Fritz Selby is a climber who grew up in southern Germany, spending a lot of time climbing in the Alps. His mother is Swiss. Selby was U.S. Economic Attache in Nepal, a post which enabled him to become very acquainted with the Himalayas. Frederick Selby is a New York investment banker, who lives in Manhattan, and is a member of the Rubin Museum. Two of the Rubin's Tibetan thankas were originally owned by him.
