Katie Skelly Artists on Art

Katie Skelly lives and works in Astoria, New York. Her first graphic novel, Nurse Nurse, will be published by Sparkplug Books in April 2012. She holds a B.A. in Art History from Syracuse University. Her interests and studies include kinetic art, optical art, psychedelia and manga.
Artists on Art: Contemporary artists lead informal, topical talks within the museum’s galleries on select Friday nights at 6:15 p.m.
In conversation with Assistant Curator Beth Citron, speakers from New York and international contemporary art scenes interact with and informally discuss the rich artistic traditions of the Himalayas and surrounding regions in relation to their own practices and processes.
Please meet at the base of the Spiral Staircase at 6:15 for all tours.
Admission to the museum's galleries is free every Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

From India East: Meet the Curator

Join curator Jan Van Alphen, as he guides you through the exhibition From India East. This year-long exhibition allows the museum to exhibit for the first time examples from far beyond the Himalayan region, including art from Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, and Japan. The loan was made possible by the Brooklyn Museum’s temporary closing of its Asian art galleries.
